Description
What a fun way to incorporate and learn about the United States during your Language Arts time. This is a stand alone pack, meaning you do not need to have my other grab and go centers to make this work for your classroom. However, if you do have them, these will interchange well with what you already have and can replace other centers for a week or two to go along with your space unit. This pack is one of the first in many new expansion packs to come!
When I set up centers, I usually have 3 centers going at a time, two independent centers that students do alone or with a small group, and one center where I am meeting with a small group. Simply place the task card in your center location with the accompanying worksheet and have students work on the assignment as you work with your small group. Most centers are United States themed and all are engaging!
These centers are great for reinforcing CCSS. There are 3 writing projects, all covering the main writing themes in the CCSS (Opinion/argumentative, informative and narrative). The reading centers focus on summarizing. Students will also review states, capitals, and abbreviations in the centers provided.
Finally, there are centers for spelling, vocabulary, and technology. Some reading material will need to be provided by the teacher for a few centers. Also, when research is required in a center, I give suggestions for websites for most of those centers, however, you will need to provide any text or book based research.
A computer, tablet, or other device may be needed for the 2 technology centers.
