Description
This is a great research project to use with your students while studying inventors. To introduce your students to inventors, they can research about Alexander Graham Bell, Thomas Edison, Henry Ford, Benjamin Franklin, Eli Whitney, and the Wright Brothers using the graphic organizers provided in this product. A good website to use for research is www.biography.com.
After students have learned about different inventors and their inventions, they can choose an inventor of their choice to write a report on. I have provided a rough draft writing template for writing their outline. They will write an introduction paragraph, body paragraphs, and a conclusion paragraph. When finished, students can use the editing checklist and peer edit their work. Students will publish their writing on the writing template provided.
The finished report will be stapled in the center of the lapbook. Finally, students will cut out the lapbook folding books and put the lapbook together. Page 4 provides pictures of what the finished lapbook would look like. Have students color and decorate it to the best of their ability as well. Students will also have the opportunity to design their own invention and write a brochure about it. The brochure should explain the invention and convince others why they would need to use it. Their invention paper and brochure will also be in the lapbook. Good Luck and have fun!
