What are Digital Escape Rooms?
Digital escape rooms use technology to solve clues and puzzles so students can escape a scenario. Watch the video below to learn more!
How to Use Digital Escape Rooms
Digital Escape Rooms are simple to use and as easy as click and go. Most digital escape rooms can be played with any device such as a computer, Chromebook, laptop, tablet, or iPad. Some digital escape rooms use Google Forms. This type of game does not require a Google Classroom account to play. The teacher just needs a Gmail account with a Google Drive, and then they can share the link to the escape with their students.
Other escape rooms might be played in Google Slides or PowerPoint. For Google Slides, students will need a Google account in Google Classroom to play. However, the game can be played on a computer, laptop, or tablet through the Slides app.
Digital escapes can be used in a variety of ways. Consider using them during center time. While they are best played as a partnership or small group, digital escapes can also be played individually. Use the escapes as a review before a test or quiz. Even use the digital games as a class incentive or reward! Most students will enjoy playing and will hardly even realize they are reviewing key standards, because they are engaged with trying to escape the scenario.
Whether your class is currently doing distance learning, or in the classroom, digital games can be used. They are great for virtual learning because of how easy they are to implement online. However, they are just as easy to implement in the classroom! Consider using a digital escape room with your students who are struggling to focus or stay on task. They will be engaged with the puzzles and problems.
