Description

Will your class escape in time? Try this escape room style game with your students today! This is a fun game that is perfect for reviewing simple addition with your first grade class.

This is an interactive game where the students are timed. They are trying to escape a mob of zombies that has overtaken the school. Students must solve a string of math questions and clues, as well as decode different ciphers, to escape. For 1st grade I highly suggest these escape games always be played as a whole class.

**Versions with and without QR codes included!

Students try and solve clues and questions to breakout and escape the classroom. You, the teacher, can decide how much time your students have to complete the task. I suggest 45 minutes, but it is up to your discretion. You can project a timer for your class, or put one somewhere for all the students to see, so they can keep track of how much time they have left to complete their task.

This is similar to a scavenger hunt where students will be moving around the room, looking for clues to unlock their envelopes (I have included riddles and suggestions on where to hide each clue). A paper is provided so students can write their work down. For many of the questions, students must have an answer that matches one on an envelope. If the answers do not match, they can’t open or “unlock” the envelope, and must rework the question.

*Everything is included, however teachers must provide their own envelopes.

I give step by step instructions on how to set up the game, including pictures! This is sure to capture the attention of your students.

This was super fun but tough as a whole class. I bought this for my grade 2’s, mostly so they could learn to work together and figure out clues before dealing with tougher questions to answer…it was hard for them!! We tried it as a whole class and used ‘inside-outside’ circles in teams to play because some people had take notes lead and others were walking around the room with no care in the world…it was still hard…i recommend doing it in groups even though it is more work to set up. I think now that my class saw it as a whole they will be ready and amped up to do it in small groups where there is more chances to have your hands right in there working!

This was fun to do on Halloween. It was a little long for my first graders. If I do another one, I will do it small group and have them compete against each other. It got to busy for all the students in my class to do it whole class.

It’s been awhile, so I thought I’d introduce m It’s been awhile, so I thought I’d introduce myself! My name is Teresa Kwant and I create teaching resources for educators. Some facts about me: I don’t ever actually create products while sitting on the edge of my bed (or on any bed for that matter 😂), and up until 2 weeks ago I didn’t even own a laptop. That’s right, for 8 years I’ve only ever used a desktop. And, the laptop I purchased a couple weeks ago isn’t a Mac (the one in the photo is borrowed 🙈). So, now that the truth is out, and we can all agree working on the edge of any bed is unrealistic and most likely uncomfortable, here are some actual fun facts about me:
1️⃣: I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from the University of Utah.
2️⃣: I taught 6th grade in an elementary school for 5 years.
3️⃣: I have a technology endorsement for education.
4️⃣: Ice cream is both an obsession and passion of mine.
5️⃣: Reading is one of my favorite hobbies, but sometimes gets put on the back burner because #life.
6️⃣: I’m a lefty.
7️⃣: British television shows are my favorite. Some particular good ones include Call the Midwife, Downton Abbey, Poldark, and The Crown.
8️⃣: From my husband—“You love a good party, and hosting them as well.” I cannot wait for Covid to end so I can get back to this one! What are some fun facts about you? I’d love to hear! Share them in the comments below.
I need to remind myself of this! Don’t get stuck I need to remind myself of this! Don’t get stuck dwelling on past mistakes, or question things you could have done differently. Continue to improve each day. We all make mistakes. We need to learn to love ourselves, and others, through the good and bad. We’ve got this! #teacherquotes #teacherinspiration #teacherquote #teachersofinstagram

I’m joining the #thankateacherchallenge with @te I’m joining the #thankateacherchallenge with @teacherspayteachers. This pandemic has not been easy on any of us, including the kids. My son’s 2nd grade class has been reading Flat Stanley. Yesterday, he received a flat teacher in the mail of his teacher! He now gets to take her around and do activities with her and write about it. So, we went on a bike ride with his flat teacher, and he even made her a helmet to stay safe 🚲. My son has had the best year with his teacher, and it was so sad when his time was unexpectedly cut short in the classroom. He told me he “feels gloomy and misses his teacher and school,” so this was just the boost he needed! I’m so grateful for a creative and dedicated educator who continues to be involved in her students lives, even through this challenging time. Teachers all over the world are coming up with innovative ways to stay connected with their students. @kirstenskaboodle @wifeteachermommy what teacher (is it even possible to narrow it to ONLY one?!) do you want to thank today?
