Will your class escape in time? Try this escape room style game with your students today! This is a fun game that is perfect for the back to school season. This game focuses on students getting to know each other. It is similar to a “Find Someone Who” game, but an escape room version. This activity is great for the first day of school, team building activities, and for students just getting to know each other! It is perfect for students in grades 3-6.

Students are trying to rescue the principal who has been abducted by a group of sneaky aliens. They must solve a string of “find someone who” questions and clues, as well as decode different ciphers. If your class has never played an escape style game before, I suggest playing this as a whole class. However, materials are provided for up to 6 different groups to play at one time.

**Versions with and without QR codes included!

This is an interactive game where the students are timed. Students try and solve clues and questions to breakout and escape the classroom. You the teacher, can decide how much time your students have to complete the task. I suggest 45 minutes, but it is up to your discretion. You can project a timer for your class, or put one somewhere for all the students to see, so they can keep track of how much time they have left to complete their task.

This is similar to a scavenger hunt where students will be moving around the room, looking for clues to unlock their envelopes (I have included riddles and suggestions on where to hide each clue). A paper is provided so students can write their work down. For many of the questions, students must have an answer that matches one on an envelope. If the answers do not match, they can’t open or “unlock” the envelope, and must rework the question.

*Everything is included, however teachers must provide their own envelopes.

I give step by step instructions on how to set up the game, including pictures! This is sure to capture the attention of your students.

This looked so fun, and I was really excited to do it! I only have 30 minutes for Guidance lessons, though, so ultimately I decided it would be too difficult (especially for 3rd graders) to accomplish in that amount of time. I’m hoping I can use it with 5th grade next year.

I bought this to test out with my summer school class of seven 3rd graders. It was my first escape room and I was nervous about managing the materials and walking the kids through it for the first time. Everything was so well organized and clear. I had no trouble at all! The kids absolutely loved it and now I plan to do it with my full class this fall.

These are great. My students loved it. I found the 6×9 envelopes at the Dollar Tree and there were 6 in a pack for $1.00. I used those for the entire project. I tried this with my third graders, many of them found it challenging, however with some guidance, they were able to solve the clues. Maybe it’s just this group, I’ll definietly try it again next year with a different group of students and see if it works deifferently.

This was my classes favorite first week activity! They were excited from the moment I mentioned it all the way through finding the Principal. There was a lot of prep involved (I chose to do small groups), but it was totally worth it in the end. My students were fully engaged for a solid hour and all I had to do was sit back and watch their teamwork, interactions, and engagement. So much fun! I highly recommend!
