This product contains over 40 math centers for the month of January for third grade! Each activity comes with a task card. All activities come in color AND black and white. The centers are CCSS aligned. The standards covered are: 3.OA.2, 3.0A.3, 3.OA.4, 3.OA.5, 3.OA.6, 3.OA.7, 3.OA.9 and 3.NBT.3. Students will work on multiplication skills, finding unknown factors, finding patterns in a multiplication table, multiplying with multiples of ten, making equal groups, and beginning division skills.

Just print and go. With these centers you can guarantee that your students will be engaged, learning and reviewing skills, all while having a good time. Get ready to free up your planning time so you can focus on other important aspects of your classroom. With these centers you will find a centers folder for students to take to each center and keep their work in, pocket chart cards, and planning sheets for you. Not to mention, task cards for each activity!

  • Centers Folder: With this, you can print the cover sheet and laminate the folders so students have a place to keep their work. Inside the folder students can also keep their checklist. The checklist is important, because students can mark off each center they have finished for each day.
  • Pocket Chart Cards: Use the pocket chart cards to organize where your students will go for each center. Print the cards out, and make a rotation schedule in the pocket chart for students to follow. A sample rotation card is provided.
  • Teacher Time: This is the time where students rotate to you. Each group will see you twice a week. I have not provided an activity for teacher time, because I feel it is up to the teacher to determine what students need help with during “Teacher Time.”
  • Fact Fluency: For many of the fact fluency centers, students will need flash cards. Students will work on either subtraction, addition, multiplication, or division flash cards, depending on where they are personally. The teacher will need to provide flash cards for this center.
  • Teacher Checklist: Use this to plan out your weekly centers. Write the students that are in each group and the centers they will go to each day.
  • Task Cards: For each center there is a task card included. Place the center materials and the task card together. Students will read the card, which gives instructions on how to complete the center.
  • Centers: Each center will last 10- 15 minutes, depending on how long you want your center time to be. This will give you time to do math centers for 30-45 minutes. You will not want your whole math block to be center time, because you will need to fit in whole class instruction. However, center time is a good way for you to meet with small groups and individualize learning based on needs and abilities. I have planned for centers to be held Monday-Thursday. Friday can be used as a make up day, or as a time to complete centers you did not have time for. Each day students will complete three centers. You should break your kids into 6 groups, since there are 6 different centers each day. Each group only goes to 3 centers, though. So on Monday, groups 1-3 will go to the first three centers, and on Tuesday, they will finish the last three centers. Then, on Wednesday, there will be a new set of 6 centers to complete in a 2 day period. Each week there are 12 different centers. Before you begin center time each day, I would review with students what each center is and how to complete the task. This should be quick, and only take a few minutes before center time starts. I have found that when you review centers before you begin, there is less questioning, and students know what to expect.
